Physical Therapy
- Accessing the environment is critical to development and learning.
- Physical therapy helps children develop the gross motor skills, balance, strength, and coordination necessary to explore their world.
Occupational Therapy
- The "job" of a child is to develop skills for play, self-care, and school performance.
- Children who have difficulties in the areas of fine motor skills and sensory processing and integration may benefit from OT.
Speech Therapy
- Some children need help developing and maintaining their ability to express thoughts and feelings.
- Speech-language pathologists are concerned with all aspects of communication including language, articulation, fluency, and feeding and swallowing disorders.
Recreation Therapy
- Recreation therapy is provided for the children who participate in our Skilled Nursing program.
- Structured play activities are designed to help them reach developmental milestones.
Skilled Nursing
- Our Skilled Nursing staff gives loving care to medically-fragile children.
- Our skilled pediatric nurses administer medications, feeding tubes, and breathing treatments, as well as full heart and lung assessments.
Family Services
- Family Services is designed to empower the family to advocate for their child.
- Our staff will help the family explore social agencies, educational settings, and medical supports that my assist the child.
DAFO's
- Custom casting and fitting of Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthotics by an in house physical therapist, specially trained in anatomy and physiology of the foot and gait pattern.
Aquatics
- Physical and Occupational therapy is provided by Special Kids' therapists at the MTSU Recreation Center Pool.
Hoofbeats
- We proudly introduce our very own therapeutic horseback riding program designed for children!
- This therapy enhances the child's work in Speech, Physical, and Occupational therapy in a fun, outdoor setting!
Art Therapy
- Art therapy is available to our children in Skilled Nursing as well as children in Outpatient Rehabilitation.
- This therapy uses art as the medium to meet and reach set milestones and goals.
- This therapy is a positive influence that instills a sense of pride and accomplishment within the children.
